Description
Old First Presbyterian Church in Taiban, New Mexico - the construction of the church was completed just in time for Christmas 1908. It was the third building in the newly founded village. However, shortly after its completion, Taiban was in the midst of a construction boom which added The Pink Pony Saloon to its bank, hotel and church. Needless to say, the saloon peaked the eyebrows of the ladies who had raised the funds for the church building. The church and saloon waged war for the souls living along the edge of the Caprock every day during Taiban's golden years. Despite the church's hollow victory in drying out the village, Taiban became known far and wide as a bootlegging capital. Today the bootleggers are all gone and forgotten, they had came with the railroad and left when the last train pulled out of town. The old church still stands as a reminder of a time long gone, keeping its secrets of those who lived and loved out on the High Lonesome of New Mexico. ~April

I love the deep tones and textures in this, it creates such a moody and interesting image. Fabulous work!

I saw this building on a road trip several years ago. I was also drawn to this abandoned building. I took a photo (nowhere near as beautiful as yours) and did a colored pencil painting of it when I started creating art! This is gorgeous,
